Description
Dried ravintsara leaves — named Best Organic Product 2022
Long before it was distilled into essential oil, the ravintsara leaf was chewed or brewed by the Malagasy for generations. It is the oldest traditional use. Our 50 g bag gives you the plant as loose dried leaves, cut to herbalist size (1 cm), for home-made herbal teas or to complete your own blends.

As a simple herbal tea
- Use 1 teaspoon of leaves per cup
- Water at about 80°C (not boiling)
- Cover and leave to infuse for 6 to 8 minutes
- Strain and enjoy
In your own blends
Ravintsara leaves blend very well with:
- Lemon verbena, lemon balm, lime blossom for a relaxing cup
- Thyme, rosemary, sage for a more structured herbal tea
- Lemon, ginger for winter preparations
- Mallow, hyssop, plantain for a home-made take on our Latsaka
As a decoction
For a stronger extraction of the non-volatile compounds: boil 1 tablespoon of leaves in 250 ml of water for 5 minutes, leave to stand, covered, for 10 minutes, then strain.

A genuine direct supply chain in Madagascar
The leaves in this bag are hand-harvested by our team on the Malagasy Highlands, dried to our standards, cut to herbalist size (1 cm) and packed. They are the same leaves we distil for our essential oil, itself named Best Organic Product 2019. These leaves won Best Organic Product 2022 in their own right — and BETSARA was awarded again in 2023 for its herbal tea in teabags.
