Description
Mievona — “atishoo” in Malagasy
Spring. Nature wakes up — and with it come pollen, shifting seasons, itchy eyes and tickly noses. Mievona is our herbal tea for these transitional periods, when the body needs gentle support to adjust.
A blend created with Axelle, herbalist at the association Le Paradoxe des Simples, who chose each plant for its traditional use on the respiratory tract and seasonal vitality.
Mievona at a glance
- Ingredients: ravintsara, nettle, plantain
- Format: 20 individual tea bags = 27 g of plants
- Certification: certified organic FR-BIO-15 (Alpes Contrôles)
- Best season: late March to early November, and more broadly every change of season
- For: adults, children from age 3
The three plants and their traditional uses
- Ravintsara — leaves from our own plantation in Madagascar (Sahambavy), the heart of the blend. The same leaves we distil for our essential oil, named Best Organic Product 2019.
- Nettle — traditionally valued for its minerals and trace elements. Often associated with the changes between seasons.
- Plantain — recognised in European tradition for the respiratory tract and for its antioxidant profile.
How to prepare it
- Heat water to around 80 °C (boiling water degrades the active compounds)
- Pour it over 1 tea bag in a cup
- Cover and leave to infuse for 6 to 8 minutes
- Remove the bag and enjoy
How often: 1 to 3 cups a day during transitional periods, for 10 to 15 days.
With the seasons now stretching across the calendar, you can drink Mievona from late March to early November — or all year round if you like it.
Why ravintsara as a herbal tea rather than an essential oil
Ravintsara essential oil is powerful, but it calls for strict precautions. The herbal tea is a valuable alternative:
- Suitable for sensitive groups: children from age 3, pregnant women after the third month (on medical advice), older people
- No complicated precautions: no drops to count, no risk of overdoing it
- A daily ritual: a hot cup brings comfort in itself
A genuine direct supply chain from Madagascar
Every ravintsara leaf in Mievona comes from our own plantation in Sahambavy, on the Highlands of Madagascar. Hand-harvested, dried to our own standards, packed into tea bags in France.
Behind the scenes: From leaf to bottle — our direct supply chain (in French).
Precautions
- Not recommended for pregnant women in the first trimester
- Ask a doctor before giving it to children under 3
- Do not exceed 3 cups a day
- Do not use over long periods (15-day course maximum)
- This herbal tea is no substitute for medical advice if symptoms persist
- Keep out of the reach of children
- Store in a dry place, away from light and moisture
Discover our other herbal teas
Mievona is one of three herbal teas, each built for a season:
- Latsaka (Little Tissues) — ravintsara, hyssop, mallow. For autumn and a scratchy throat.
